Survivalism: How to Prepare for the Economic Collapse
If this forecast holds true, and a major portion of our states file bankruptcy, there will be widespread panic, our state funded services and programs will be closed down immediately, and confusion amongst political leadership and the citizenry.
Not long after the states file bankruptcy, could we see martial law declared by the President of the United States, as a means to bring order and peace. Those who are not willing to comply with the mandates of the martial law will be hauled off to FEMA camps and military bases throughout the United States.
How can you prepare for this economic collapse now?
Food
• Begin stocking up your cabinets, pantries, and closets with non-perishable food items.
• Purchase a portable camping stove in case your home’s electricity is shut off.
• Start consuming a healthier diet so your body isn’t dependent on the processed and junk foods we’ve grown accustom to.
• If your have the space in your yard, plant and grow a garden.
• Stock up on vitamins and necessary supplements to ensure you stay healthy in the next Great Depression.
Household
• Discuss emergency plans with your family, roommates, friends, and/or loved ones.
• Store a stockpile of hygiene items including deodorant, toothpaste, towels, washcloths, and toilet paper.
• Make sure you have a hefty reserve of bottled water on hand, stored in a safe place.
• Keep extra pillows, sheets, and blankets in your closets.
• Have at least one shotgun, rifle, or handgun, if not more.
• Ensure you have enough ammunition to defend yourself, your household, and your loved ones in emergency situations.
Community
• Get to know your neighbors.
• Know who you can and cannot trust in your local community.
• Gather together with like-minded individuals in your community, choose designated methods of contact, and choose a few leaders.
• Pick a safe house, where your community coalition will go in emergency situations.
• Pick two alternative safe houses, in case the primary safe house becomes compromised.
• In times of peace, continue to make your community aware of political, social, and economic dangers.
Money
• Save paper and coin money in a safe place in your house.
• Invest in a small or medium size safe to store your money and other valuables.
• Slowly begin withdrawing from your savings and investment accounts on a regular basis. Store this money in a safe location.
• If you can purchase gold, buy it. Gold retains the same value no matter how low or high the currency markets go.
• Stop paying taxes to save money and force government leaders to listen to the citizenry, the people who put them in office.

Great post but you forgot 2 very essential items in my opinion
1) Get a quality water filter with replacement cartridges and some water purification tabs .
2) Make sure you buy heirloom variety vegetable seeds.. most seeds are hybrids and will not grow viable seed for next year’s crop.
I tend towards agreement that things will get worse but isn’t this just more of the “be afraid” that our government tries to scare us with? Come on! I am NOT afraid od the next big depression but I am afraid of the Corporate States of America…
Yes, and you forgot to mention storing up on “tobacco” for the big bust. Gotta have a ration of smokes, you know!
Save your money; stop paying taxes; hoard food — it don’t make no differential. George Soros and his group of monetary mercenaries can and/or will drive the value of the U.S. currency into the ground (i.e., hyperinflation) just the same as they do with other foreign currencies. It’s been proven that all currencies eventually collapse anyway.
Inflation is just another form of tax, so if you stop paying your taxes, then they’ll still figure out a way to wipe out the value of your money. Also, it’s a fallacy to suggest that “gold prices” cannot effectively be manipulated; and that has already been done before for those of you who’ve forgotten.
Years and years ago, the feds passed laws forbidding the hoarding of food and supplies beyond a certain degree; and furthermore that if you do hoard too much food and supplies, they have provisions to “take it from you” under martial law with the so-called ideal in mind of “fairly distributing” it to your neighbors — and whether the latter consideration actually happens or not to your food (e.g., probably it will end up being hoarded by the soldiers who steal it from you).
Look, if that Russian academic guy is correct (Igor Panarin) about the systemic and total collapse of the U.S. economy and culture in June or July 2010, resulting in a splitting of the U.S. mainland and territories into about a half-dozen “runt” states (with Alaska going back to Russia), then the whole fiasco was probably planned no later than immediately following the determined outcome of World War II. (Then there’s that psychic dame who has weird, prophetic dreams all the time and saw a darkened wasteland to view America around April of 2010 in a dream she had back in 2006.)
Anywho, it doesn’t have to happen exactly like all of that: Instead, we can just have all of the states secede from the union and start printing their own currencies. Sure, it’ll turn out to be an unending civil war until Christ finally comes back rent as all hell for the final doomsday parade, but in the meantime we can do what mankind has always done best: MAKE WAR, NOT LOVE!
With the states all split up, the bigger and tougher ones will squash the weaklings and then take over those territories for their own (sort of like the white man took from the red man here a few centuries ago). Your money will be more valuable if you live in a bigger, tougher area (or state, or whatever you want to call it at that point).
By the way, what happened to the bit of propaganda thingy-dingy that we were all supposed to spread around the country in preparing everyone for the apocolypse?

I also have been looking forward to a nice guerrilla war. i have 200 acres suitable for planting any blue helmeted interlopers. some of us started stockpiling weapons and food long ago, and will protect the yummy edible wildlife around us too. if you can, pay off everything. i did it and now no one can say i owe them anything. if it collapses, i just lock my gate and watch the world burn. hey-and dont forget toilet paper,it IS GOLD! very high trade rate to those you can trade with. happy armageddon everyone!!!
I agree that we should always be prepared, but in this particular instance, prepare for LONG TERM survival, not just a few weeks/months, but Years!
MRE’s canned food is ok, but you best have a long term solution in your plan as well, because the stock will not last you forever. Visit my site and you can get everything you need including MRE’s, water purification, storage, seed banks to grow emergency gardens with open pollenated seeds.
I have also a very extensive collection of bug out bags ready to go, lists of items you’ll want if you make your own survival kit. My experience comes from having been through many hurricanes, being stranded on an island for nearly a week, so I’ve put these things to use and know what you will need.

where the super-rich play, and it’s headed for collapse. Anyone take
